Launched in 2024, the new outdoor art on the Great Victorian Rail Trail adds another reason for this iconic rail trail to be on your must-ride list.

Each artist brings a unique perspective to the theme of 'connections', exploring ties to country, the local environment, the trail's history, community, and more. Don't forget your camera.
THE TOWN THAT MOVED
The High Country Rail Trail is a rolling delight for history buffs and view seekers alike.
Roll to Old Tallangatta Lookout to learn about the town that moved. To make way for Lake Hume Old Tallangatta was flooded in the 1950s and the town moved to it's current location. This is a fantastic roll from Tallangatta for families complete with lake views, information boards and picnic tables.
Bring bikes that are ready for unsealed adventure and ensure you are self-sufficent.
GOLD RUSH TOWNS
Discover two historic gold rush towns on the new Beechworth to Yackandandah Murray to Mountains Rail Trail extension.
Discovery of alluvial gold in 1852 saw the area explode with activity and the formation of the two beautiful towns.
Ride between them on 31km of off-road rail trail to explore the history and architecture including 32 buildings National Trust classified buildings in Beechworth, guided tours, museums and Kelly Gang history.
HISTORIC ALPINE KILNS
Ride the 24km Myrtleford to Porepunkah Murray to Mountains Rail Trail section to view the historic alpine tobacco kilns.
A unique part of the High Country's history, keep an eye out for the retired kilns iconic silhouettes as you pedal. Explore the inside of a traditional log kiln and the mosaic art path at Myrtleford's Rotary Park . Bonus points if you visit in autumn for the park's red and gold foliage.
