The Banjo Paterson High Country Trail

103 Hanson Street Corryong Victoria

The Banjo Paterson High Country Trail invites visitors to explore the landscapes that shaped Paterson's life and poetry.

This self-guided journey links High Country locations he lived in or wrote about, offering an immersive blend of heritage, scenery and storytelling. Travellers can experience Paterson's verses in the very places that inspired them.

Designed for flexibility, The Banjo Paterson High Country Trail suits all ages and abilities. Most visitors explore the sites by car, while others may choose to honour Paterson's equestrian spirit by riding between selected locations. The Trail also pairs with popular High Country activities, from winter adventures to summer hiking and cycling.

For those seeking deeper exploration, the route can connect with other trails and iconic walks including the Mount Kosciuszko Summit Walk, Main Range Track, Cascades Walking Track and Major Clews Hut Track.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the trail and to view the interpretive panel at the Man from Snowy River Museum in Corryong. An A2 sized printed poster of the trail is also available for sale at the museum and for reference at the Corryong Visitor Information Centre.

As a low impact trail, there are no on-site information boards, and connectivity can be limited. Visitors are encouraged to carry a brochure or download the Trail PDFs before setting out.
