Adjacent to the Ovens River, Apex Park can easily be reached from the city centre by crossing the Sir Thomas Mitchell Bridge leading from the central Wangaratta Road to Parfitt Road.
This is a large grassland style park that makes an excellent location for a family get together or day out. It is equipped with picnic tables, barbecues, a children’s play area, parkour play space, toilets, shower and tourism information boards.
Apex Park is also the official start of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, a marvelous sealed road where cyclists can head towards Bright and other towns of North East Victoria.
It is also the starting/finishing point for the Wangaratta parkrun conducted each Saturday morning.
The park is also regularly used for markets and show ‘n’ shine events.
