The Rutherglen Annual Agricultural Show is an event open to the wider community which features many of the traditional aspects of a rural show - full horse program, cattle handling/parading, sheep and fleece exhibits, farm produce, poultry exhibits, pavilion competitions including baking, needlecrafts, photography, arts/crafts, and horticulture, all featuring local schools and their talented students.
Many displays of unique skills including the John Williams Memorial Dog High Jump, NEB Axemens' Association wood chop, facepainting, and shearing demonstration. They also have a limited number of market stalls if you're looking for a unique handcrafted bargain on the day.
They encourage all ages to enter as an exhibitor or simply to come along and enjoy a wonderful community event. A variety of food and drink options are available. Victorian Showmen's Guild side shows are amongst the entertainment options, along with Colonial Clydesdale Carriage rides, Hay Ho Animal Nursery, and this year's show will feature performances by Sincs FMX motorcross stunt show.
There's something for the young and young at heart.
