ABOUT THE TRAIL

TRAIL HIGHLIGHTS

THE BEECHWORTH DESCENT

Rail trails are usually flat, but every now and again they need to include some gradient. For those who like to feel the wind in their hair, the trail from Beechworth to Everton stations is a lovely free-wheeling descent for nearly 15km. It's a very popular ride, but remember, what goes down must come back up!

RUTHERGLEN WINE BOTTLE

The iconic Wine Bottle towers over the township of Rutherglen. Only a short spin from the Rutherglen-Wahgunyah section of the Murray to Mountains trail, with its high vantage point it has a spectacular outlook over the surrounding vineyards and countryside.

HISTORIC ALPINE KILNS

The unique and iconic silhouettes of the region's tobacco kilns are a unique piece of High Country history, dotted along the Myrtleford-Porepunkah section of the Rail Trail.

AUTUMN LEAVES AGLOW

The High Country towns of Beechworth and Bright put on quite the colourful show during the Autumn months, and one of the most popular ways to take it all in is on two wheels, scooting up and down the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. Make a long weekend of it and ride Beechworth to Bright with an overnight stop in Myrtleford to take in the full show.
