King Valley & Milawa
The Milawa Gourmet Region is the gateway to the King Valley and is located 15km from Wangaratta. In Milawa you will find artisan producers of bread, mustard, cheese, honey and the famous Brown Brothers Winery before taking a trip into the picturesque King Valley, home to some of Australia’s favourite wineries and producers including Pizzini Wines and Dal Zotto Wines. The King Valley has grown to become a premier Italian varietal wine producing region. Enjoy a relaxed conversation with the winemaker as you experience renowned wine styles of Prosecco, Pinot Griggio, Sangiovese and Barbera.
The wineries of Dal Zotto, Brown Brothers, Chrismont, Pizzini and Sam Miranda have created the self-drive prosecco and food trail, which highlights the region's Italian heritage and its claim as being the home of Italian bubbly in Australia.
Power's Lookout offers an excellent vantage point and was once the haunt of the 'Gentlemen Bushranger' Harry Power. From the main road it is a 3km trip along a gravel road to reach the lookout that offers spectacular views over the Wobonga Plateau and Mt Cobbler to the southeast. There are picnic tables and wood fireplaces at the lookout. Be sure to discover both walking tracks at Powers Lookout. Why not bring along a picnic and enjoy an afternoon overlooking the valley.
Katrina Pizzini's hands on classes at A Tavola! will leave everyone empowered and inspired by the end of the session. Most classes are taught by Katrina with the addition of guest chefs. Classes range from learning the art of making pasta, to cheese making or creating the ultimate dinner party.
