Hidden within the beautiful granite foothills surrounding northern Victoria’s Broken River is a vibrant group of highly talented vignerons, little known to regular wine patrons. Their single-estate, boutique wines come from the same catchment, but the terroir enjoyed by each differs markedly in soil type, elevation, rainfall and water source. As a result, between them they create a diversity of quality wines including Merlot, Malbec, Rosé, Tempranillo and Verdelho. Being granite country, each also creates a Shiraz, but diverse growing conditions ensure distinctive aromas, flavours and colour.
Curious? You’re just in time! These vignerons are opening their doors to discerning wine connoisseurs for a personalised tour, most for the first time. Lou of North East Wine Tours will take you to meet the vignerons: Saffron Gramophone Wines, Baddaginnie Run, Swanpool Creek Wines and Kooyonga Creek Winery. At each venue you will enjoy an intimate tasting and vineyard tour, plus a delicious lunch along the way.
